THINGS I WOULD TELL YOU PART 2

Certain things are

Different now

Small ones

That are not really significant

But still a

Change

The Brita-filter

Isn’t on the bottom shelf

Of the fridge door

Anymore

It’s moved

Deeper inside the fridge

More of an

Effort

To get to it

To wiggle it out

We never lit

The candle they gave us

For you

Maybe you would’ve

Wanted us to

The heat melted some of the wax

Maybe that counts

It’s hot here

The sticky kind of hot

The Brooklyn kind of hot

Not the Berkshires kind of hot

Where you can hop in the kayak

And go for a cruise

I took out a kayak

This summer

By choice

I could see why you liked it

Serene but powerful

Nuanced

The reflection on the water of the

Hazy sunset

The ripples of the colors on the

Lake

The house is organized

To an extent

Not quite what

We always envisioned

But a step in the

Right direction

There’s a Buddha

Above the kitchen sink

Now

Her eyes are closed

A small smile across her face

Legs crossed

A hand out

I think that’s how you looked in your kayak

On the water

Something like that
