Whenever someone tells me they're not from the United States I say “that’s so cool”. It doesn’t matter where they’re from, it’s just cool to meet people from other places. I constantly catch myself being 'Americentric'. I’ve even caught myself refer to Americans when the word I was really looking for was humans.
Today I met a girl from Turkey. She was so excited to be a part of the conversation filled with mainly Americans. She was very friendly and laughed a lot. I liked her accent.
We were all communicating through the English language, positioning us on the same playing field, but each coming from completely different given circumstances. And I think that’s really cool.
